Zeekr X with video game screen!

Geely’s new European offensive relies on the Zeekr brand. The group that owns Volvo, Lynk & Co and Smart is preparing the Model X, an electric compact crossover that will highlight performance and technology.

The screen is as big as it is unusual

In the teaser video, Zeekr shows off an extremely minimalistic interior, almost like a concept car. The instrument panel is dominated by a 14.6-inch horizontal screen that can be moved thanks to a rail system. Thus, during long journeys, the passenger can position the screen in front of him, connect his phone, tablet or console to the outlets located behind the screen, and play his favorite video game or watch a movie in streaming mode!

Unusual for a Zeekr gimmick that also has a small screen in front of the driver and a fairly large space between the two front seats due to the lack of a central tunnel.

From 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds

What else do we know about Zeekr X? Based on the SEA platform (same as Smart #1), the crossover is 4.45 meters long, 1.83 meters wide, 1.57 meters high and has a wheelbase of 2.75 meters: numbers are very similar to those of Smart #3, which, like the X, will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 14.

We notice that the seats don’t have a particularly sporty feel. It’s a bit of a shame when Zeekr claims the X will be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3 seconds. However, in terms of performance, although the Chinese manufacturer has not yet confirmed it, it is quite possible that the X will receive a 66 kWh Smart battery.

Engines, on the other hand, could be different and even more powerful. We’ll have to wait for the official launch to find out, with the first copies expected in the summer in Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden, countries where EV sales are skyrocketing.
