Spam complaints in the fourth quarter of 2022: nuisance calls and spam text messages both increased year-on-year

According to news from IT House on March 24, the 12321 Reception Center announced the inventory of spam complaints in the fourth quarter of 2022. The number of harassment call complaints decreased by 9.6% from the previous month and increased by 7.2% from the same period last year.

The main areas where complaints were made about harassing calls were Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Shanghai. The harassing calls were mainly about loan financing, insurance sales, and real estate agencies; harassing calls using short numbers accounted for 60.6% of the total, and manual harassment accounted for 85.4% of the total.

The number of spam SMS complaints increased by 34.5% month-on-month and 19.5% year-on-year. The main areas where the spam messages were complained were Beijing, Fujian, and Jiangsu. Accounting for 85.3% of the total.
