When foreign media reported that a high-level Vietnamese delegation visited South Korea and held related meetings with the South Korean side, they mentioned that Samsung Electronics was expected to discuss the establishment of a factory in Vietnam. The Vietnamese delegation included a large number of economic representatives, executives of Samsung, LG, Hyundai Motor and many other large Korean car groups,It is expected to participate in the meeting, and the two parties are expected to conduct in-depth discussions on investment and other matters.

As the head of Samsung Group, Lee Jae-yong, who has been promoted to the executive chairman of Samsung Electronics, is expected to participate in this meeting. Foreign media also mentioned in the report that Vietnam may propose that Lee Jae-yong invest in the construction of a semiconductor factory.

It is worth noting that relevant people in Vietnam proposed to Lee Jae-yong three times in October 2018, November 2019 and October 2020 to set up a semiconductor factory in Vietnam.

Foreign media also mentioned in the report that Vietnam is seeking to attract investment from foreign chip manufacturers, and they have successfully attracted investment from Intel. Intel’s total investment in Vietnam has reached 1.5 billion US dollars, and there are 2,800 employees in Vietnam.

Samsung Electronics is currently the largest foreign investor in Vietnam and also has a research and development center in Vietnamis the largest R&D center of Samsung Electronics in Southeast Asia, which was completed last year. Lee Jae-yong inspected this R&D center in October 2020. When meeting with representatives from Vietnam, he revealed plans to expand investment.
