The microchip shortage (which thankfully now seems to be solving itself) caused important changes in the mobile market. At the end of last year, Xiaomi positioned itself for the first time at the top of the manufacturers that sell the most mobile phones in the world.

However, the throne did not last long for the Chinese brand, as it experienced a significant drop in sales in Q1 2022. This allowed Samsung position itself as the new sales leader at the beginning of this year. And now, the statistics for the second quarter of 2022 have been revealed, confirming that the Korean brand continues to be the one that sells the most smartphones in the world.

As in the first quarter, Samsung is the brand that sells the most mobile phones in the second of 2022

The most recent report by Canalys, one of the leading market research companies, has revealed mobile sales statistics in the second quarter of 2022 (Q2 2022). It confirms that Samsung has dominated the first half of the year in terms of smartphone sales, since as in Q1 2022, the South Korean manufacturer is once again the top seller in the second quarter of this year.

Currently, Samsung has a 21% share of all mobile phones sold in the world. This represents an increase of 3% compared to the first quarter of 2022, in which the Korean brand led the market with a share of 18%.

In the second place in this list of manufacturers that sell the most mobiles is Apple, with 17% of the total share. The apple brand has also experienced growth in its sales, given that in Q1 2022 these represented 14%. It is very likely that those from Cupertino will regain the throne of sales later this year with the launch of the long-awaited iPhone 14.

Finally, completing the list is Xiaomi in third place with 14%, OPPO in fourth place with a share of 10% and Vivo with 9%. It is surprising that the Chinese manufacturer, despite having had a Q2 full of important launches such as the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, 12 Lite and the best-selling Redmi Note 11T, has not achieved a better position in the ranking.

And you… Do you think Samsung will manage to maintain the lead for the rest of the year or will it succumb to Apple with the arrival of the iPhone 14?
