“Mortal Kombat is a famous fighting game franchise that celebrated its 30th anniversary in October. To thank players for their support, NetherRealm Studios released a video expressing their heartfelt gratitude and hinting at the prospect of a new game.

Many members of NetherRealm Studios, including designers, animators, and others, appeared in the video to thank players. Community Manager and KombatKast host Tyler Lansdown and Senior Sound Supervisor Dan Forden are among the recognizable faces. At the end of the video, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon appeared and said, “Thank you, we are not done yet. Then the film showed an image of an hourglass, and the last grain of sand in the hourglass exploded, and the screen went black.

This hourglass is remarkably similar to the final level of Mortal Kombat 11 – Kronika’s hourglass, and Kronika is also the game’s final boss. Kombat 12 will be revealed soon. In fact, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav mentioned ‘Mortal Kombat 12’ during the company’s Q1 earnings call this year, and the game is set to be released in 2023. “Mortal Kombat 11” is NetherRealm Studios’ latest effort, which was originally released in April 2019, and will be followed by an expanded edition “Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition” in November 2020.
