How powerful is the strongest consumer-grade PCIe 5.0 SSD! Gigabyte Eagle 510K 2TB Review: Sequential read and write breaks 10GB/s, 4K exceeds 100MB/s
1. Foreword: Da Diao 510K is the fastest consumer SSD
PCIe 5.0 SSDs are finally here, albeit a little later than expected.
The first PCIe 5.0 SSD we received was the Dadiao 510K 2TB SSD sent by GIGABYTE for testing. It is indeed a bit surprising. After all, in everyone’s impression, GIGABYTE’s main business is boards and laptops, and it does not have much in the field of SSDs. volume.
This Gigabyte Dadiao 510K 2TB SSD is definitely worthy of the title of the strongest consumer-grade SSD today.
Let’s take a look at the new features of Gigabyte Dadiao 510K SSD!
1. Phison PS5026-E26 master controller
This is Phison’s first PCIe 5.0 master controller, adopting TSMC 12nm process, FCCSP 576 package, core area 16x16mm, integrated 2 ARM Cortex-R5 cores and 3 dedicated IP cores, supports DDR4/LPDDR4 cache, supports SSD capacity up to Up to 32TB.
This is an eight-channel master controller. In theory, it can run up to 15.7GB/s bandwidth of PCIe 5.0 x4 with 2400 MT/s flash memory. However, in order to control power consumption and heat generation, PS5026-E26 limits the maximum read speed to 12GB/s, the highest write speed is 11GB/s.
In addition, the 4K random read capability is 1500K IOPS, and the 4K random write performance is 2000K IOPS.
2. ZNS partition namespace
ZNS allows the SSD and the host to cooperatively place data within the drive without over-provisioning, and also allows data to be aligned to the SSD’s physical media.
In this way, ZNS improves overall system performance and improves SSD endurance.
In traditional SSDs, if the flash memory block is not full, the original data needs to be copied to continue writing, and then all the data in the flash memory block is erased, and finally the new data and the original data are written into the block together . This virtually increases the write amplification ratio of the SSD and reduces the write life of the flash memory.
The SSD with ZNS subdivides each block into several spaces, and it is not necessary to erase the contents of the entire block when writing, but only the partition.
This technology can effectively reduce SSD write amplification and improve write life. Therefore, the write life of the 1TB version of Dadiao 510K SSD can reach 700TBW, and the write life of the 2TB version is 1400TBW, which is about 20% higher than the mainstream PCIe 4.0 SSD on the market.
3. Copper foil label
In the past, the surface of the M.2 SSD was a sticker, but the Dadiao 510K uses a copper foil sticker. Its thermal conductivity is 100 times that of a paper sticker, and it can transfer the heat generated by the SSD to the media at the fastest speed.
For motherboards without M.2 cooling vests, GIGABYTE also provides optional nano-coated M.2 dual heat pipe heat sinks, which can suppress the temperature of the SSD below 60 degrees without a fan.
The Dadiao 510K 2TB SSD we received uses Micron’s 232-layer 3D TCL NAND particles with an interface rate of 2400MT/s. It is also equipped with a 4GB SK Hynix LPDDR4x 4266MHz cache.
