Ford reportedly in talks to sell German plant to BYD – Xinhua



IT House news on January 24, the Wall Street Journal reported that, according to sources, Ford Motor Co. is in talks with Chinese electric car maker BYD Co. to sell a manufacturing plant in Germany. The current terms of the transaction include price. Not yet known.

Ford management officials in Germany plan to travel to China next week to discuss the possibility of selling the Saruis plant, where production is scheduled to end in 2025 and where Ford builds its Focus compact.

The people familiar with the matter said that the negotiations are still in the preliminary stage and there is a possibility that the transaction may fail.Ford is evaluating the interest of about 15 potential investors, including manufacturers such as BYD, as well as financial investors working with the manufacturers.

IT House learned that according to Reuters earlier reports, the German IG Metall union said on January 23 that Ford Motor plans to cut about 3,200 jobs in Europe, including as many as 2,500 product development positions and 700 administrative positions, of which the German region most affected.
