Apple Safari browser technology preview version 162 release: compatible with macOS 13/12, enable shared tab groups and sync settings extensions, etc.



IT House News on January 26, Apple today released Safari Technology Preview 162 update, which is an experimental browser that Apple has launched since March 2016. Apple designed Safari Technology Previews to test features that might be introduced into future versions of Safari.

The current “Safari Technology Preview” build builds on the Safari 16 updateincluding support for features in macOS 13 Ventura such as live text, passkeys, web extension improvements, and more.

IT Home has learned that Safari Technical Preview 162 includes bug fixes and performance improvements for Web Inspector, CSS, Scrolling, Gamepad API, Media, Web API, and Accessibility.This update enables shared tab groups and syncs tab groups, site settings and web extensions, can be tested on Safari Technical Preview 162 or later running macOS Ventura 13.2 or later, or macOS Monterey with Safari 16.2. .

The current Safari Technical Preview is version 16.4, which is compatible with devices running macOS 13 Ventura and macOS 12 Monterey. But it no longer works on macOS Big Sur.

Anyone who has downloaded the browser will be able to get the “Safari Technology Preview” update through the Software Update mechanism in System Settings.
